Hi Darlings! So you might have seen this fun flowy dress on my instagram a while back. I picked it up for a summer wedding from Kohls and fell in love with the color… Best part, I happened to have the perfect lip color on hand to match. In the past I’ve really struggled to settle on a lip product that I like. In the last few months I’ve finally found a few that I really like! Keep reading for my top three lipcolor products- there’s something for every budget!

I just checked, and it’s on clearance right now for only $32 and all the sizes are available in this color! Click here to shop! It’s also available in plus size.
I think I’ll try it with a jean jacket and some cute boots for a more casual fall look.
The description says it’s a midi length… however on my frame, the back of the dress pretty much hits the back of my ankles. I think I would have loved it even more in a petite size, just so that the length was more midi rather than almost maxi. But seriously, it’s so comfy!

Ok… On to the lipsticks! I was never a faithful lipstick wearer until the past couple years. For everyday wear, I used to throw on some chap-stick and call it good. Maybe for a special event I’d pull out some old cheap brand I got on the spur of the moment in a grocery store. But the color swatch never seemed to match what I thought it would look like, and I couldn’t stand how it would wear off, smudge, and occasionally get on my teeth. So embarrassing. You know the struggle.
Enter liquid lipsticks.
I’m so late to the liquid lipstick game, but they are so much easier for me to apply! It helps that I finally took some time to research different brands and colors and I settled in to my latest go-to top three! They are all pretty similar in color, I tend to like pink/brown nude shades. Occasionally I’ll go for a really bold dark lip, especially in the fall, but these are more of my everyday favorites.

1. Lipsense
Now this is the most expensive, especially considering the fact that you have to buy the essentials when you first start out: the color, gloss, and remover. Chances are, if you’re on Facebook, you’ve been added to a Lipsense group. I’ve been added to 3 different groups. goodness.
Lipsense is sold from independent distributors like you would with Mary Kay or Lularoe. As far as I know you can’t get it from a store. People are like obsessed with this stuff. Almost like a cult following. For pretty good reason, because it’s certainly long-wear. This stuff really stays on. You actually have to get the “Oops! Remover” to take it all off. Sometimes I’ll use my makeup remover wipe to get any remnants off at the end of the day while i’m taking the rest of my makeup off, but it doesn’t come off easy.
Do I like it? Yes. Am I as obsessed as others? No.
Maybe it’s because I don’t wear it everyday and they say that you have to wear it often for it to really work. For me, when it does finally start to wear off, it’s pretty gross looking. It comes off in patches. You have to keep applying the gloss throughout the day, and I always forget. The more you gloss, the longer it lasts. After chasing around toddlers all day, it’s the last thing on my mind to reapply.
My shade is called Pink Champagne. It’s maybe a touch too much on the shimmery/glittery side but it’s a nice neutral pink. I’ve only ever tried this color, so maybe my opinion will change when I get another shade. I should try the matte gloss, because the regular gloss is way too glossy for me- at least paired with the shade I have, I feel like it gives my lips sort of a glazed doughnut kind of look. In the end, that’s probably my biggest issue with it.
This is my favorite… At least I wear it the most often. I have it in the shade “Om” which is a brown toned nude color and it just works for me. I just like how it looks with my skin tone/hair. It feels like velvet when you first apply and it doesn’t really dry out your lips. It does last quite a while, but after a few hours it starts to come off, especially if you are eating or drinking.
To be honest, it looks pretty disgusting when it starts to wear off. It starts fading at the the water line of your lips and seems to build up at the center. At this point, it will stick to any dryness if you haven’t exfoliated your lips in a while. I like the shade so much that when I start to see it wearing off, I just remove with a washcloth or a damp paper towel and start fresh! It doesn’t bother me. Also, It doesn’t stain your lips at all. Major plus. Buy it here.
This is a good product if you’re shopping on a budget. (P.S. For some reason it’s more expensive at Ulta, so pick it up at a drugstore. Here’s a link to get it at Target.) The have added more shades to the collection since it first came out, which is great. The one I currently have is a shade called Seduction. Don’t love that name.
But anyways, I was looking for more of a pink with brown undertone and when it’s been on my lips it almost turns more coral pink. It sort of stains your lips for the rest of the day too (at least my shade does). This product doesn’t last near as long as the bare minerals or Lipsense. You get what you pay for. But if you’re willing to reapply often or just need it for an hour or two, then no big deal!
There you have it! If you need a lipsense distributor, let me know and I’ll connect you with someone!
