Tis’ the season for Holiday Gift Guides! I’m so excited about this particular one. I’ve done some careful looking at both the products and the mission behind these 10 different organizations/businesses. Some of them have been near and dear to my heart for years. In my search, I’ve also discovered a few that are new to me!
If you’re looking for some gorgeous gifts that hold lasting impact in the world, here are a few ideas to get you started!
Oftentimes my tight gift budget can keep me from purchasing more items from organizations like these. Naturally they are more expensive. With that in mind I tried to keep these recommendations budget friendly. A few items are on the pricier side, but most are under $30.
Gift Guide links and info:
Love Your Melon donates 50% of profits towards giving a hat to a child with cancer and supports Non-profit Organizations fighting against pediatric cancer.
Sevenly funds $7 towards Child Sponsorship’s through Compassion International with a purchase of this shirt.
$5 from this Lovishly purchase goes towards keeping families from being separated in Uganda due to Poverty.
(on sale!) Toms has a “one for one”model. For every pair of shoes you purchase, they will donate a new pair of shoes to a child in need. (P.S. Here’s an Outfit Idea with a cute way to style booties!)
I love Thistle Farms‘ mission: “HEAL, EMPOWER, AND EMPLOY women survivors of trafficking, prostitution, and addiction. They provide safe and supportive housing, the opportunity for economic independence, and a strong community of advocates and partners.”
To Write Love on Her Arms is a nonprofit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.
from Women At Risk International. This is a handcrafted necklace made by at-risk and rescued artisans in Nepal seeking freedom from poverty for themselves and their families.
Beelove is a Chicago Based Business that makes all natural Honey body care products from local urban Apiaries. They are produced by men and women returning from incarceration. These talented men and women develop a stable work history, learn marketable skills and gain the confidence they need to re-enter the workforce.
(On Sale!) This Rave and Lily Tea Towel was handcrafted using up-cycled textiles from a zero waste facility. This purchase helps empower artisan women in Cambodia who are survivors of extreme challenges such as HIV and trafficking.
Purchase of this Society B Scarf helps provide fair-wage employment for a woman in Ethiopia who has overcome extreme hardships.
Even with all these great ideas, I encourage you to also look local. Seek out Community non-profits, your church ministries, and the missionaries you support.
If they have products they are selling, please purchase from them! It will make such a difference, and because they are local or well known to you, you know exactly how your money is making an impact.
Leave a comment if there’s an item you have your eye on! Happy Shopping!
