It’s my husband’s 30th birthday this week!
To celebrate, I put together a list of 30 small and simple ways to show your husband how much you love him.
I broke the list up in categories based off of Gary Chapman’s 5 Love Languages. If you don’t know what your husbands love language is, I suggest you start by taking the test together. Brew some coffee and pull out the cookies while you go through the online test. It’s true, any of the items on this list are a thoughtful gesture of love.
But when you know the ways he feels loved most deeply, you’ll have a better understanding on how to really show your husband you care.

Words of Affirmation:
Compliment him (genuine, thoughtful compliments)
Leave him little notes to find around the house
Praise him in front of your friends (whether he’s there or not)
Pray for him and pray over him
Send him a random sweet text during the day to let him know you’re thinking of him
Say “I love you”. Tell him often, and then tell him why you love him.
Quality Time:
Set aside your to do list and plans and ask him what he wants to do.
Plan a fun date night/family outing: If possible make it a priority to go on regular dates- they don’t have to be expensive. Some of our favorite “date nights” are at home with a charcuterie spread and a board game. They are so key to a healthy marriage!
Listen to him… really listen. Put the phone down, stop what you’re doing and give him your undivided attention.
Spend time together in nature- go on a walk or have a bonfire after the kids go to bed
Sit by him while he watches the game. I’m not interested in football at all, but I’ll do a craft or paint my nails just in the same room as my husband while he watches and he loves it!
Read/discuss a book together. Again, the five love languages is a great place to start. Ryan and I have also read through Sheet music by Dr. Kevin Leman and You and Me Forever by Francis and Lisa Chan.
Gifts
Order him that item he keeps talking about getting/has been wanting!
Have the kids help make him a gift
If it’s in the budget, sign him up for a subscription box that he’d love! there are tons of different ones- my husband would love this fishing tackle subscription box
Get sentimental: frame something that means a lot to him. Memorabilia, a cherished letter or document, even a photo
Pick him up his favorite coffee order while you’re out running errands.

Acts of Service:
Make his favorite meal or a favorite snack
Wash his car and fill up the gas (if you’re like me, I always leave these things for him to do… it’s extra thoughtful to do it for him unprompted!)
That chore he really dreads? taking out the trash, paying the bills, yard work–take care of it for him, especially if you know it’s been a busy or stressful week.
Make him coffee (or breakfast) and bring it to him in bed! Ryan always loves it when I bring him a cup of coffee when he starts to stir in the morning. I don’t do every day, but every once in a while makes it a special treat!
Pack his lunch for him
Give him some time for himself, whether it’s alone time or an evening out with his buddies. This might mean taking on extra responsibilities of caring for the kids solo for a night, but it’s a sacrifice well given!
Physical touch
Kiss him good morning and goodnight
Greet him with a hug at the door when He gets home from work
Give him a simple touch on the shoulder when you walk past him
Initiate, in the bedroom
Hold his hand in public
Cuddle him on the couch while you watch tv
Give him a back rub
